Abstract
This paper presents a generic solution for the construction of diagnostic expert systems using aspect-oriented-software architectures and product line techniques. The approach is shown by specifying a case study using CIMs, and automatically generating a PIM. The case study presented is a medical diagnosis system for the detection of infantile infectious diseases. PRISMA models are used as PIMs. We follow the Model Driven Architecture (MDA) initiative of the Object Management Group (OMG) for building domain models (CIMs), which are automatically transformed into PIMs and compiled to a .NET executable application (PSM). The Software Product Line techniques have been used to capture the variability of systems of this kind
