Abstract
Safety Oriented Systems are emerging as a new kind of decision-support systems aimed to improve personnel protection in large organizations. They make extensive use of hypermedia technology and information fusion to provide users with all the information needed to correctly handle emergency scenarios. An essential requirement for this kind of systems is dynamic delivery of information to avoid situations in which the information presented is inaccurate with respect to the real world. In this paper, we extend the classical Digital Library Architecture and define an architectural framework for flexible Safety System. We separate multimedia content from domain-related properties to enable dynamic disseminations of digital objects. An implementation of the framework using Enterprise Java Beans is also presented.
