Abstract
This paper presents a solution for the data migration problem in information systems that must evolve to adapt to new requirements. The solution uses the information provided by the conceptual schemas, which represent the evolution that the information system has undergone, in order to automatically generate data migration plans. The plan offers the maximal flexibility permitting the user to act always with the maximum possible freedom in its construction and execution. Thus, a solution to a seldom addressed problem in Software Engineering is offered, and a tool that supports it is presented. This tool has been developed by the Information Systems and Computing Department of the Universidad Politécnica de Valencia in collaboration with the software development firm CONSOFT.
